TAX TOOLS FOR INDIVIDUALS

Here are our latest tools to help you get ready for your 1040 tax return.  The Questionnaires and Checklists help identify issues we may need to address and to make sure you don't miss something we'll need. The Engagement Letters are to make sure we both have a clear understanding of the services we will provide.  We encourage you to print these both out, answer the questions, sign the letter, and give them to us with your tax information.

TAX TOOLS FOR BUSINESSES

If you own a business, there is additional information we will need.  Our Request for Information lists several questions we need you to answer, and information we need you to provide.  Here are some key points that need to be addressed right away:

W2s & 1099s:  If you are relying on us to prepare W-2s and 1099s for your employees and vendors, we need to have that information as soon as possible to meet the January 31st deadline.  Even if we've been preparing monthly or quarterly payroll returns, you should confirm all names, social security numbers, addresses, and employer identification numbers promptly to avoid extra fees for correcting returns.

Personal Property:  If you are relying on us to prepare your Personal Property Statement, we need to update your information as soon as possible.  Let us know about new equipment, furniture, etc. that you've acquired, and identify items that you no longer have, so you won't be taxed on them anymore.

Inventories:  If you maintain an inventory for resale or an inventory of materials for manufacture, IRS regulations require an annual physical inventory. While we do not need the cost of your inventory until we prepare your return, it is often a best practice to count your inventory as close to year-end as possible.
