Rebuilding On Main Street

Last year is one that we will never forget. On a blustery Wednesday morning last February, our office on 505 Main Street collapsed under the weight of heavy ice and snow. Miraculously no one was hurt when the 100-year-old building came tumbling down, and what could have been a disaster became a testament to the strength of our firm and our community.New Main Facade

The heart-warming support from our clients, neighboring businesses, competitors, local property owners, professional associations and many others, helped us to maintain our business continuity through a catastrophic event. From the Middletown Fire Department who helped us to retrieve what could be saved from the rubble, to the Salvation Army who granted us an easement which allowed us to rebuild, the whole community contributed in an endless number of ways. Dozens offered us office space, and in less than three days after the collapse, thanks to Midfield Corporation, we were moving into a temporary office on Court Street.

Today in the space where our former building once stood, a new one is taking shape. The location at 505 Main Street is our home and we look forward to moving back to our familiar neighborhood. The new building will be very similar in architectural style to the old one with curved windows and a brick façade. The third floor will no longer have a basketball court as it once did, but will serve a more practical purpose as GDS office space along with half of the second floor. Tenant space will be available on street level as well as the other half of the second floor, and our new building will have the convenience of an elevator! To date we have completed the foundation, and are in the process of finishing the steel framing work. Our goal is to move into the new building by the end of the summer 2012.

GDS credits our clients, exceptional staff and the community for helping turn tragedy into opportunity. Our commitment to all of you has never been stronger. We thank all of those who stood by us during such a challenging time and we look forward to continuing to work for and with you in our new home for many years to come.
